Art
Art is an extremely important subject for children. It helps to stimulate their creativity and imagination by providing sensory, visual and tactile experiences which help them to communicate ideas and feelings.
In Reception drawing, painting, cutting and sticking, collage and junk modelling are all daily activities for the children. Once in Years One and Two the pupils have regular art lessons.
Our art work covers the basic elements of colour, texture, shape, form, space, pattern, line and tone. The children explore these through printing, painting, pastel, drawing, collage, 3D work and digital media.
Art is often linked to topic work. For example Reception’s work 3 Dimensional minibeasts and Year One’s collage pirates. Year Two pupils have recently used The National Gallery’s Take One Picture as a cross curricular focus.
