U10 St George's Netball Tournament
On a chilly March morning, the U10 ‘A’ Netball Team set off to the St. George’s Netball tournament to compete against 19 other schools.
They were in group B and won their first two matches easily, demonstrating some great skills. The next match was against a very strong Barrow Hill team. Despite a good start, Barrow Hill won the game. The final match in the group stage was against City of London Freeman’s. Although we outplayed them, we just could not score despite many opportunities, and unfortunately lost 2.0. If we had managed to score just one goal, we would have been through to the main competition.
Unfortunately this result put us into the ‘Knockout Plate’ competition. With our shooters back on form, we managed to knock out Twickenham Prep (7.4) and then Guildford (2.1), but in the very close semi-final just lost 4.3 to ‘The Royal’.
Maisie Minors was awarded ‘Player of the Tournament’ and the team enjoyed their tea and cakes afterwards. Many thanks to Miss Colver who umpired all the matches, and to the parents who came and supported us in the biting wind. Well done also to all the team, who played their best and showed some potential for the future.
