IAPS U11 Regional Netball Tournament
On a cold but bright sunny day Newland House set off with great anticipation to participate in the IAPS Regional Netball Tournament. There are 6 of these held around the country, involving over 300 teams. The High Wycombe region is one of the biggest and strongest consisting off 53 teams and last year’s winners Glendower. The standard of play was excellent.
There were 6 sections in total. Newland House had to play eight matches in order to go forward into the next round. We won seven out of our eight, playing some outstanding Netball. We scored 50 goals in total and only conceded 14. As runners up in our group we then had to play Bishopsgate. This proved to be a tough game and despite our valiant play we lost 6-1.
We expected to play another round to qualify for a place in the National Finals at Roedean, but sadly, due to the way the tournament was organised this year, this proved not to be the case. The girls in the U11 squad have worked extremely hard this year even attending extra early morning practices. It was a great disappointment to all concerned that despite only losing two matches we were not able to progress further. However Miss Colver, Miss Youngman and all of the supporting, encouraging parents were very proud of the dedication, commitment and skill displayed by the team. Well done!
Thank to Miss Youngman for umpiring, to Miss Lamotte for looking after the team and to the patient, reliable reserves. Last but not least a big thank you to the ongoing support of our parents.
